Structural Cohesion by Nicholas Brown. (2019)

Role: Performer / Facilitator

Structural Cohesion is a new work by composer/artist Nicholas Brown. It investigates various forms of rhetorical expression in relation to language, architecture and music. What, for instance, is the relation between ethos and rhetoric in today’s political campaigning? How do architects design buildings that enable focussed listening and yet remain connected to the outside world of everyday life? It received its world premiere in the public spaces of Concertgebouw Brugge in Nov 2019, performed by vocalists Maribeth Diggle, Natasha Lohan.

Vocal students from Royal Conservatoire Antwerp were trained by Natasha Lohan in improvisation techniques specific to the situation in which the performer responds to the architecture of the building.
